Located just five miles south of the Canadian Port of Entry at Roosville in the heart of the Tobacco Valley, Eureka is in a wide, grassy plain nestled between two mountain ranges. This spectacular corner of Northwest Montana also boasts the state’s mildest climate. Not to mention some of the most diverse scenery, from shortgrass plains to high country virgin old-growth conifer forests. Raw beauty is the order of the day. There’s no shortage of native wildlife. Moose, elk, deer, bears, wolves, and coyotes abound. Wild turkeys and bald eagles are even spotted with regularity.

With a population of 1100 (5423 for the entire Tobacco Valley), Eureka is a friendly sort of place. It’s a town where people wave at complete strangers on the street and say “Hello.” (Not that you’ll be a stranger for very long in Eureka.) Most of the buildings that line Main Street date to from the turn of the 20th Century. However, the majority of the original merchants who set up shop there have long since given way to art galleries, gift shops, cafés, movie theatres, and restaurants. The amiable shopkeepers here take great pride in the beautification of their stores, and of the downtown shopping district in general.
